Hello to everyone first, my name is Amit Negi and this is my first
blog.
As
for my first blog the topic I'm gonna talk about is a little serious,
my topic is after Windows 7 what's next? What's better for users? For
you and for me. After retirement of Windows 7 my journey with Windows
actually came to an end and I had two options either to upgrade to
Windows 8 or 10 or either look for another alternative. For me an
upgrade was easy and so was to choose an alternative, I also used the
Windows 10 OS for three weeks but I was fed up by the update issues.
Also the slow boot time, unnecessary notifications, some viruses and
the crashing Windows update application forced me to look for an
alternative.
Now
let me make it clear, I have an i3 7th gen Acer Aspire Laptop and for
me a Macbook is both out of question and budget. But shockingly the
alternatives were interesting. If you are fed up of Windows, want to
try something new and a macbook is out of your reach then I have one
word for you and that's LINUX!
Now
before we can start let me make it clear I don't hate WINDOWS, I'm
just fed of it. Above I shared all the limitations and problems I
faced when I was using WINDOWS and also of Macbook (The only
limitation of Macbook is that not everyone can afford it!)
Now,
what is Linux?
Just
like Windows, iOS, and Mac OS, Linux is an operating system. In fact,
one of the most popular platforms on the planet, Android, is powered
by the Linux operating system.
From
smartphones to cars, supercomputers and home appliances, home
desktops to enterprise servers, the Linux operating system is
everywhere.
Linux
has been around since the mid-1990s and has since reached a user-base
that spans the globe. Linux is actually everywhere: It?s in your
phones, your thermostats, in your cars, refrigerators, Roku devices,
and televisions. It also runs most of the Internet, all of the
world’s top 500 supercomputers, and the world’s stock exchanges.
But
besides being the platform of choice to run desktops, servers, and
embedded systems across the globe, Linux is one of the most reliable,
secure and worry-free operating systems available.
The
thing is Linux is fast, safe, secure and free of cost but if you want
rain then you also have to deal with some mud. Although it's fast,
safe, secure and free of cost Linux also is not completely perfect.
The problem is many Linux distributions are user-friendly and many
are not, many are fast, light and need low hardware specifications
and many need a high-end hardware. Not only that the thing is there
are almost six hundred Linux distributions
available, with close to five hundred out of those in active
development, that's a very big number and the difficult task for the
user is to pick up the best and perfect Linux distribution for
himself and believe me,
IT'S
NOT AN EASY TASK AT ALL!
Talking
about me, I've used for about thirty-three distributions and believe
me all of them were good in some aspects and bad in some but for me
it was a different experience. From Puppy Linux to Pop OS, from Kali
Linux to Backbox OS and from Linux Mint to Peppermint OS I've used
everything and I'm going to help you with my Linux experience which
will help you to choose the perfect one for yourself.
So
stay tuned for more information on Linux distributions and other
stuff, I'll share everything I know and will try to help you.
Comment,
if you are confused.
Share,
if you found this thing useful.
Like,
if there's any option like this exists here. (This is my first blog
friends, give me some time to adapt and learn.)
Also
stay tuned for more and to know which Linux Distribution I use (Yes I
am a Linux user and I also use Windows. DUAL BOOT BABY!)
Thanks
for reading.
